Osteopaths work to restore your body to a state of balance. A combination of massage, stretching and physical manipulation is used to increase the mobility of joints, relieve muscle tension, enhance the blood and nerve supply to tissues and to help your body’s own healing mechanisms. Postural advice and exercise prescription will also be provided to aid recovery, promote health and prevent symptoms recurring.

Sports MassageIMG_8098

Sports massage helps to alleviate the tension and muscle soreness caused by strenuous activity, stresses of everyday life, poor posture and repetitive strains. Sports massage improves circulation and lymphatic flow, assists in the removal of metabolic waste and helps break down adhesions and scar tissue to reduce muscle tension and pain and enhance overall posture and flexibility.

Kinesio TapingIMG_7397

Kinesio taping* is a rehabilitative taping technique that uses latex-free tape. Kinesio Tapeis applied along muscles, ligaments and tendons to facilitate the body’s natural healing process whilst providing support and stability to joints and muscles without restricting the range of motion. Kinesio tape prolongs the benefits of osteopathy by extending soft tissue manipulation after completion of the “hands-on” treatment.

Medical Acupuncture

Medical acupuncture* (or dry needling) helps to speed up recovery from aches, pain, stiffness and injuries and works well alongside osteopathic techniques. Insertion of fine sterile needles interferes with pain signals to the brain and stimulates the release of endorphins (natural pain killers). Medical acupuncture also helps to relax tight muscles, regulate the nervous system and increase blood flow to an area thus encouraging the natural healing process.

* Where suitable Medical Acupuncture and Kinesio Taping are used in conjunction with osteopathy treatments free of charge.
